The Teen Starter / Beginning Driver is a complete program designed to guide students from the first experience behind the wheel to driving in passing their DMV road test**. The focus is to develop safe and confident drivers through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical driving experience.
It will include the following lessons:

Based on the student's progression, it may repeat lessons above or it may include the following lessons:

Florida's "3 in 3" Course

For Individuals who are REQUIRED by the state to take the course.
Lesson 1: Vehicle Control & Maneuvers

Lesson 2: Traffic Laws & Defensive Driving (2 Hours)

Improve road awareness, defensive driving, and passing the road test.
The 3 in 3 ** is required per Section 322.0261(1)(c), Florida Statutes, drivers who have been convicted of, or plead nolo contendere (no contest) to a third traffic offense that caused a crash within 36 months to complete a Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) approved driver improvement course. Specific Driving Skills Taught
These are core skills that are on the Florida DMV Driving Test website.

Three-Point Turn
Demonstrate how to safely turn your vehicle around in a small space (20–40 feet wide), using a three-point maneuver.

Approaching Intersections
Make sure you’re in the correct lane and check for cross traffic by looking both ways as you approach an intersection.

Right-of-Way Awareness
Show you understand when to yield: stop for pedestrians, pull over for emergency vehicles, and avoid blocking intersections or disrupting traffic flow.

Straight-In Parking
Park your car head-in within the lines of a standard parking space, with your vehicle centered and no part sticking out into the lane.

Parking on a Hill
Demonstrate how to correctly park your car facing uphill or downhill, with or without a curb.

Quick Stop
React quickly and safely when asked to make a sudden stop—no skidding or losing control.

Backing Up
Reverse slowly and in control for 50 feet, using only your mirrors and by looking over your shoulder—not relying on a backup camera.

Stop Sign Compliance
Approach in the correct lane, come to a full stop before the crosswalk or stop line, and only proceed when it’s safe.

Traffic Light Response
Approach signals at a safe speed, be ready to stop if needed, and only enter the intersection when the light is green and clear.

Turning & Signaling
Use your turn signal or hand signal for the last 100 feet before turning, and always turn from the proper lane.

Passing Safely
Before passing, check your mirrors and blind spots to make sure there’s enough space and time to do it safely.

Lane Discipline
Stay in your lane—usually the right lane unless on a one-way street—and don’t switch lanes unless it’s safe and legal.

Safe Following Distance
Maintain at least a four-second gap between your car and the vehicle in front to allow for safe braking.

Driver Positioning
Keep both hands on the steering wheel and maintain good posture—avoid resting your elbow out the window.
